Customer Review Cuisinart Cast Iron

My husband and I were recently invited to dinner with another couple at a the Melting Pot. After we paid over $100 for our meal (per couple) that was just OK, I decided next time I could probably do better at home and save some money to boot!

This is a really easy pot to use. Its very well made and from the quality of constuction, I think we will be enjoying its use for many years to come. It is attractive and timeless in the white, so it matches all my white tablewear nicely and is not a trendy color that people will giggle about in 10 years (remember the orange and green remnants from the 70's by the time the 80's rolled around??)

I decided on this after reading what a pain to wash some of the electric ones were (the electric ones also looked really cheaply made in the store - like they would not last long). I also like that you dont have to buy any sterno cans to use this. Just pour plain (cheap) alcohol in and light! The flame is adjustable to get just enough heat to keep your dish hot without burning it.

My husband read the directions and mastered the burner in about 5 minutes (thats pretty good for us LOL). I made the crab and cheddar fondue over a double boiler and then poured it into the fondue pot to serve. Some recipes you can make right in this pot on the stove as well. It is pretty heavy duty and washed very easily. My "double boiler" is just a big pot of boiling water under my big stainless steel bowl - nothing fancy.

I bought the book "Fondue" by Robert Carmack along with the Fondue kit. I am pleased with this combination as he expains everything you would want to know about fondue along with some really great recipes.

Now that we have tried this and found it to be so simple and yummy, I am really excited about inviting our friends over to see that 4 people can enjoy a really nice Fondue dinner for way less then $200!
